Islamabad, February 25: At least two persons were killed and several others injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a car carrying senior Pakistan Army officers in the garrison city of Rawalpindi on Mnday.

The attack occurred on Mall Road, a busy commercial area in Rawalpindi located a short distance from the army's General Headquarters, at about 3 pm, eyewitnesses said.

Human body parts lay strewn all over the site of the blast, which was immediately cordoned off by army personnel.

At least 10 vehicles were damaged in the blast, witnesses said.

It was not immediately clear whether the suicide bomber was on foot or in a car. Some reports said the bomber rammed his car into the army vehicle and that senior ranking army officers were among the dead.

The loud blast was heard across the cantonment area in Rawalpindi, which has witnessed several suicide attacks on security personnel in the past few months. Several of the attacks occurred in the vicinity of the General Headquarters.

Islam: a religion of peace? by SLB on 26 Feb 2008

Muslims should practice "peace" and non-violence and equality towards all faiths,if that's what Islam stands for. Unfortunately, history shows muslim cruelty belies their kind words.

Attack near Army HQ in Rawalpindi by SLB on 26 Feb 2008

Muslim clerics and religious leaders in India recently in the "Anti-terrorism" conference have adopted a declaration saying that terrorism is against the Islamic principle of "peace" and hence unacceptable. I would say it's about time that Muslims everywhere should "practice" peace and non-violence and equality
