It was observed in the meeting that the efforts made by the Nigam to minimise the losses had shown good results during the first seven months of the current year. There had been a significant 6.79 per cent reduction in losses from April to November, 2007, as compared to the corresponding period last year.
The revenue collection efficiency had also gone up by about 9 per cent during this period. The Nigam realised Rs 14,3858.57 lakh as compared to Rs 11,3715.21 lakh realised during this period last year.
Emphasising the need to bring down the ATC losses, Singh specifically pointed out that the Central Electricity Authority has recommended the losses up to maximum 10 per cent in tropical countries like India. It had been around 6 to 7 per cent in sub-tropical countries. More than 10-11 per cent losses are not good for the financial health of the Nigam. The Nigam had ample resources to streamline the distribution network.
