Besides Uttar Pradesh, the searches were being carried out at other places including Delhi and Haryana.

Official sources said the cases were registered on January 2 in a designated court at Lucknow after which CBI sought search warrants against the accused people.

The searches began this morning at 60 places including at the residence of the former Minister, who joined BJP yesterday after being sacked by UP Chief Minister Mayawati.

The CBI had filed FIRs pertaining to the scam. Kushwaha has been named as an accused in one of the five FIRs registered against the NRHM officials and private companies in UP.

The agency on the directions of the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow Bench had registered five Preliminary Enquiries (PEs) in November last year out of which it has found sufficient evidence to convert two of them into FIRs, claimed officials.

The CBI is investigating alleged irregularities in the funds allocated to chief medical officers of 72 districts of the state. These also include civil works of Director-General (Family Welfare); procurement of medicines and equipment and information; and education and communication of Director-General (Family Welfare), Director-General (Medical Health), Director (Training), State Health Society, and State Innovation in Family Planning & Project Agency (SIFPSA).

The NRHM scam saw in its wake murders of two CMOs and a deputy CMO. The CBI, after taking over the case, formed a special investigation team which is being supervised by its Additional Director in New Delhi.

sacked ministers by gmsingh on 04 Jan 2012

By accepting the ministers sacked by BSP into its fold, BJP has shown its real colour and confirming to the nation why she has opposed the Lokpal bill in the Lokshaba and Rajya Shaba and is least interested in reducing the corruption in day to day works of the nation.

Ideological and moral mishap in BJP by Indian at heart on 04 Jan 2012

Out of all the politicial parties BJP was the only one which seemed like following morally and ideologically correct path. It is only because of staunch support of BJP , the ruling UPA faced tremendous pressure to act against corruption. But with this action BJP has declared that they don't intend to continue to follow the righteous path. For the right minded citizens there are no political options left.

BSP DISCARDS IN BJP by R.K.GOEL on 04 Jan 2012

While it is futile to comment on SPs behaviour, the BJP is also toeing the same line. Very shortsightedness on the latters part, to say the least.

BJP has shown its true colours by Ranita on 04 Jan 2012

Seeing what is going on, its getting obvious the BJP was also involved with scuttling of the Lokpal Bill. This is shameful for a national party and I hope it corrects its course of action NOW.
