Srinagar UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi said the global meltdown has not affected the country's economy much and attributed it to the policies adopted by the Congress-led government at the Centre.

"Though there is meltdown in global economy, impact in India is comparatively less because of the policies pursued by the UPA Government," Gandhi said after inaugurating the integrated terminal building of Srinagar International Airport and train service from Mazhom to Baramulla on Saturday.

The Congress chief said the Centre was engaged in providing relief to the people of the country and promised to complete various projects.

Gandhi congratulated Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Ministry officials for completing the ‘challenging’ job of starting the Mazhom-Baramulla train service.

She also showered praises on Praful Patel, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Airports Authority of India (AAI) for completing the project of integrated terminal building.

The UPA chairperson also flagged off the first international flight to Dubai from Kashmir later.

"Initially, one flight will be operated on every Saturday. Introduction of more flights depends on response from the Valley people," an official of the AAI said.

AS ABOVE by ABCD on 15 Feb 2009

private airlines in india are giving misleading advertisement saying cheap fares----the fare advertised is not even 20 percent of actual total amount a passenger has to pay----a passenger is not interested to know the various other taxes like FUEL SURCHARGE, PASSENGER SERVICE FEE, AIRPORT CONGESTION FEE, AIRPORT DEVELOPMENT FEE ETC-----they want to know the total amount required for purchasing a ticket--AIRLINES SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO ADVERTISE ONLY TOTAL AMOUNT AS AIR FARE--the passengers are least bothered what is the BASIC FARE

Listen to Congress Mata by Anil Kohli on 14 Feb 2009

This party is shameless from top to bottom. The UPA government has done nothing, other than protect all the scam tainted or murder accused MP. What a galaxy of corrupt individual this government has had as its Cabinet Ministers. This is a new low in the Indian political History. The Aam adami was forgotten the day after he was made the central piece of this government. It took a state government like Gujarat to crack the blast cases that have rocked this country thru the UPA's tenure of last 5 years, with the culmination of terror strike in Mumbai. Yet Congress Mata wants to pat the Congress kids and the UPA government for the good work done. Their standards are surely very different from the rest of the citizens in this country. We are still waiting to unravel the mystery of who authorized import of sub standard wheat was it Mr. Sharad Pawar of NCP or was it one of the congress men.Who will tell the country Not,congress not CBI then who.???madame Gandhi will you tell the country

UPA the worst government ever by SP on 14 Feb 2009

UPA government is invisible and is neck deep in corruption. At least a dozen Ministers have quit the Ministry in the last five years for rioting, corruption, charges of murder and approaching Iraq governemt for money. There is hardly any development and governance and only politiking. Amarnath- allocate land and under pressure from separatists backed out, Ram Setu- said Ram and Ramayan all imaginary. Communal census in Army and judiciary etc. These are all the achievements. 66 terror blasts in India and few thousand people have died but no action on the ground and a Minister has to be sacked because he was more interested in his own dress.

There is a vacancy in the Finance Ministry by Indian on 14 Feb 2009

Madam, there is no full time Finance Minister of India at the moment. Now if a part time Finance Minister can do so much what is the need of a Finance Minister? Anyway if you are interested you should become the FM; don't worry about conscience; that can be taken care of later. In 1999 SP ditched your Party and since they are with you now; PM post is ready.
