Lucknow The BJP has accused Congress leader Digvijay Singh of hatching a conspiracy to get the nomination paper of its senior party leader Uma Bharti rejected.

Terming it to be a desperate act, BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said Congress has conceded defeat and was therefore adopting indirect methods to dent BJP.

He alleged that an application was moved through an independent candidate Rampal for cancellation of Bharti's nomination from Charkari.

The application was rejected by the returning officer and her candidature was termed valid, he said.

Rudy alleged that Congress leaders were making desperate efforts “as they have realised that like Bihar, the party will be wiped out in UP”.

He said Congress leaders had in the past targeted Bharti by referring to her as an outsider.
