Sources said the step has been taken to help students in choosing the right institute and develop a healthy competition among the technical institutes.
“The list will be based on various parameters like faculty resource development and management, academic resources, academic processes, faculty and staff satisfaction, students satisfaction etc,” said UPTU Vice-Chancellor Prof Prem Vrat Singh.
A senior official pointed out that the initiative will give a major blow to those technical education institutions that attract students by making false claims of imparting quality education. “There are numerous technical education centres that trap students by making false claims about results, placement, infrastructure etc. However, once the official list is out, business of such institutes will come to an end,” said a senior UPTU official.
The exercise for listing the institutes has already been started by the university and the list will be posted on its official website www.uptu.ac.in. “By end of December, the exercise will be concluded and results will be posted,” officials claimed.
Significantly, UPTU is taking every measure for making the rating process impartial.
“Several panels have been constituted for this job and persons from different cross-sections will be involved in preparing the list. In order to bring a high level of transparency in the rating process, it has been ensured that the panel does has any official from the UPTU,” officials said.
Members of NGOs, academicians and industrialists are all involved in preparing the list featuring the top technical educational institutions of the state.
At present, there are over 250 technical institutes affiliated to UPTU.
