"The training effort with the (Pakistan) Frontier Corps is not a secret. We've talked about it on the record for several months," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman told reporters.
The Pentagon's remarks comes a day after the New York Times reported that more than 70 US military advisers, mostly special forces personnel, are secretly working in Pakistan to help its armed forces battle al-Qaeda and the Taliban in the country's lawless tribal areas.
However, the Pentagon spokesman refused to comment on the composition of the US forces training the Pakistan Army.
"We've never really talked about the composition (of the US military team)," Whitman said.
Earlier, the 'New York Times' quoted American military officials as saying that US Army Special Forces soldiers are training Pakistani Army and paramilitary troops, providing them with intelligence and advising on combat tactics.
They make up a secret task force, overseen by the United States Central Command and Special Operations Command, the officials said.
According to the report, the training started last summer, with the support of Pakistan’s government and military, in an effort to root out Qaeda and Taliban operations that threaten American troops in Afghanistan and are increasingly destabilizing Pakistan.

What a Farce !!! Pakis are trained by the US Military and they in turn train the Taliban who kill American soldiers in Afghanistan.Good that Obama is sending 17000 more American soldiers. This means 17000 more targets for the Taliban monsters

Good news! First the US trained Taleban and Al Qaida to get the Russians out! Now they are training Pakistani Army to get the Taleban/Al Qaida out! Pak Military itself is Taleban, so aht will happen! Again the pressure will come to India! May be good Arms business!
This is nothing but classic example of running with hare and hunting with hounds. Till date India is crying for all the terrorist activities, nuclear cladestine activities, Jihadi elements, Al-Quida, Taleban they are overlooking everything. Now they are training Pakis, giving them aids to fight such elements. telling India not to act-react(that is different as our own Govt. is also not interested in taking any action against Pak).
This blows off the US pretence of being friendly with India. They are secretly arming and training Pakistan, a nuclear-armed rogue state, which is India's sworn enemy.We should further develop our relations with countries such as Russia and Iran and not rely on US 'friendship' alone. After this exposure, I dont think we can truct US anymore. There is no difference between Bush and Obama as US president as I see the latter following almost 85-90% of the former's policies. The difference between them is all hype and for world media consumption.
US doesn't India coming up or being a super power. Indirectly US is training Islamic terrorist country (ofcourse Pakistan whom US consider as the listed TERRORIST country) to fight with INDIA, by saying they need to fight with AL- Queda and Taliban. Already this split away region (Pakistan: from INDIA) from mainland is a big threat to INDIA. Inspite of that, US wanted to train them indirectly how to fight with INDIA. It will not only harm INDIA, but US is digging its own hole. It is the US that trained taliban against Russia (then Soviet Union). The US was always with Pakistan ISI and Islamic fundemetalists in Afgan.
Let Indian govt. investigate the matter seriously to ensure that Americans are not playing the dirty game from the back of India and planning another attak in India by their 'trusted ally' Pakistan, after the training! that much we suspect Pakistan nowadays, we should also suspect America as well.

But you people still fail to u/stand the money and power you all r giving to Pakistan is being used against India, for no fault of us. We are still at large why this country is being punished, becoz we love peace. Earlier, it was in the name of Kashmir, Kashmir is not the property of Pakistan or either. This entire issue is a political gimmick, and the time has to come to put a full stop. US shd very well infm Pakistan that, earlier they use to fight with us as one nation, now they will use Taliban, against us, giving logistics support to them, on the other hand they want make peace with India.
