US diplomat Burns to visit India from June 10

New Delhi US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William J Burns will be in India on a three-day visit from June 10.

The visit is expected to further strengthen relations between the two countries after the return of the Congress-led UPA Government in New Delhi.

Burns is likely to meet Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon. Issues like situation in Pakistan-Afghanistan region, Mumbai terror attacks and non-proliferation are likely to be discussed during the meeting.

During his visit, Burns will also visit Mumbai where he will interact with captains of industries on the greater bi-lateral economic engagement.

His trip to India will set the stage for the visit of American Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton to New Delhi in July.
