Kolkata, January 28: The United States has offered help to India in containing the bird flu outbreak in West Bengal by providing preventive drug, Tamiflu and protective gear to personnel involved in culling and other operations.

The US government has on January 23 offered to check the availability of Tamiflu syrup for children from worldwide stocks, provide technical support for human surveillance, diagnosis, and preparedness and technical support for animal surveillance and culling.

"We have an experience that it (bird flu) moves very quickly so it needs to be tackled fast. No case has come across of human beings having contracted the disease. But it has to be nipped in the bud before it moves forward," US Ambassador to India David Mulford told reporters.

The offer is for technical devices and equipment and Tamiflu, he said noting that the United States was "very very concerned because of the problem".

"We made an offer a few days ago. We are in touch with labs," Mulford said adding that the help can be extended directly or through NGOs.

No US help, we are communists by Satya on 29 Jan 2008

No US help, we are communists, I am Buddhadev Bhattacharya speaking. We may take help from Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea and China. The virus we are fighting in Bengal actually stems out from our own communism virus, accidently. We will not allow imperialist America in our communist heaven. Bird flu in Bengal will be over in next few days, as there would be no birds left. Human-flu already started and we will cuell them soon, but still no US help. Thank you.

But unfortunately, the commies do not believe in GOD!!!!The communist government of WEST BENGAL comprises incompetent ministers who care two hoots for the chickens as well as people.
