Andhra Pradesh tops the list with 98.9 percent disposal rate. The UT Consumer Commission also earns the distinction of deciding over 2,000 appeals and cases of commissions of Punjab and Haryana within one-and-a-half year.
Due to non-appointment of presidents in the Commissions of Punjab and Haryana for a long time and due to absence of members, the pendency of cases in the two commissions has been on the upswing.
Having seen the quick disposal rate of the UT Consumer Commission, another 1,500 cases from Punjab and Haryana consumer commissions have been transferred to the UT Consumer Commission.
While 500 cases and appeals pertain to the Punjab Consumer Commission and 1,000 cases pertain to the Haryana Consumer Commission.
“The cases have been transferred since the UT Consumer Commission has disposed of appeals of Punjab and Haryana within few months, which were pending for more than six years” said a court official.
Commission president K C Gupta said, “The Commission is ensuring that not only the cases pertaining to the two commissions are disposed of within time but justice is also delivered to the litigants.”
