UT floats housing scheme

Chandigarh, January 10 The UT Administration has floated a special housing scheme for different categories of regular employees of the Administration, its boards and corporations and those who are on deputation. Flats at subsidised rates would be provided. The scheme also covers employees of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh.

Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) would implement the scheme and around 6,000 flats would come up at Sectors 52 and 53.

Initially, the allotment will be on leasehold basis and the allottees would not be allowed to dispose off or part away or transfer the possession before five years. Afterwards, the unit could be converted to freehold after paying the conversion charges.

While three-bedroom flats on the ground floor will be available for Rs 34.7 lakh, flats on other floors will be sold at Rs 24.8 lakh. Interested employees will have to pay Rs.1.75 lakh as earnest money.

The scheme will open from January 14 and will end on February 29.

The brochure and application form will be available on the website, www.chb.co.in, from January 14 and can be downloaded free of cost.

The same can also be purchased from CHB on payment of Rs 200 in cash.
