Ludhiana, August 07 A former photojournalist Amrik Singh alias Prince, an undertrial facing various criminal charges, was injured after being attacked by some fellow undertrials in the Bakshikhana (makeshift jail in courts) today.

The incident occurred this afternoon around 2.30 pm. Prince, who had been arrested by the police in May this year in a cheating case, had been brought to a local court along with some other undertrials.

According to reports, Prince was attacked with iron handcuffs. This all happened in the presence of the police. Later, he was rushed to the Civil Hospital.

Speaking to mediapersons, Prince alleged that he had been attacked by one Amit Kamboj, who is facing criminal charges, along with his supporters.

Kamboj, while denying the charges, said that Prince had passed some obscene remarks about his women relatives who had come to meet him at the Bakshikhana.

Division number 5 Station House Officer Shavinder Singh Dhillon said that prohibitory proceedings had been initiated against Kamboj under the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

Meanwhile, Prince was discharged from the jail after the first aid.

Prince had hit the headlines for filming various lower-rung employees of the courts and the police allegedly taking bribes.

He was arrested by the police in May in a cheating case in which he had been declared a proclaimed offender (PO) in 1986.

This case had been registered against Prince in August 1986 under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Money Transaction Act by the Division number 5 police.

Later, Prince had been declared a PO in that the case by a local court. Prince is also facing charges of blackmailing former Mayor Nahar Singh Gill.
