The physics department of university and BARC on Monday had organised a seminar on “Glimpse of nuclear research using cutting edge technologies.” After the seminar, Vice Chancellor Narendra Jadhav and K B Sainins, director of bio-medical group, BARC spoke about the efforts to strengthen the MoU between two institutes. “We have an MoU with the university for last five years. We have been arranging lectures for students under this tie-up. But this time, the event was big. We shared information about the research work going on in BARC as well as employment opportunities with the students. We have decided on further strengthening this collaboration,” said Sainis.
Presently, 12 students of the university get the benefit of doing research with BARC as a part of their Ph.D. programme. Some are even employed by BARC. “Apart from the students, interaction of faculty with BARC is on individual basis. A few days back when BARC director was here to discuss about the present tie-up, we decided to have more interaction at the faculty level. Areas of joint research also can be identified and accordingly, faculty exchange and joint research will be carried out,” said Jadhav. “We will be concentrating on biological sciences, molecular biology and concerned technologies also,” added Sainis.
