University of Pune outsmarts other varsities

Pune, January 13 The University of Pune has bagged the overall championship trophy in Avishkar, a State-level competition which is organised to showcase the innovations of students. The university secured 11 out of 36 prizes in six categories.

To inculcate research culture in the college students, Avishkar was started last year. This year, the competition was held by SNDT University, Mumbai on January 10, 11 and 12. As many as 19 universities participated. “There were in all 311 projects. The university showcased 35 projects. We bagged five gold and six silver medals and the overall championship,” Avishkar coordinator K C Mohite said.

Suneja Nareshkumar, Shreyas Kaptan, Rajesh Sharma, Achal Agarwal and Bhau Botre bagged gold medals, while Alpana Vaidya, Priya Kadam, Ameya Gokhale, Sanket Tembe, Yogini Gujrati and Sanjeevani Rahane were recipients of silver medal.
