Unscheduled power cuts irk residents of Kalka, Pinjore

Parwanoo, January 13 Unscheduled power cuts have become a major problem for the residents of Kalka and Pinjore, as they find it difficult to manage their businesses and daily chorus in the face of frequent blackouts.

According to Samriti Arora, an engineering student and a resident of Upper mohalla, Kalka, the unscheduled power cuts have adversely affected her studies. She said, “Many times when I try to concentrate on my studies the electricity goes away and many times I have to go to my college without even taking bath.”

According to Rajan, who owns a computer shop in Kalka, his business has been badly affected due to the unscheduled cuts. In the absence of power, many times he could not finish his work in time due to which his customers got annoyed.

Madhuri Sharma of the Kalka Housing Board told Newsline that at times it becomes very difficult for her to even wash clothes as washing machine cannot run without power.

Kalka SDO (Electricity) could not be contacted for his comments on the issue, however, sources in the Electricity Department said that decisions on power cuts were taken at higher level and electricity supply to Kalka and Pinjore was less than required. They further added that there was a shortage of electricity in Parwanoo, Baddi and Nalagarh also, but all the cuts were pre-scheduled.
