New Delhi, March 20 A 22-year-old man strangled his mother to death in Jehangirpuri, north west Delhi, on Wednesday night.

The police said Nur Alam murdered his mother, Ravina Alam, because he was angry with her over an illicit relationship she was in. He murdered Ravina at her lover’s house in K-Block, Jehangirpuri.

According to the police, the incident was reported around 10 pm on Wednesday. Ravina was at her lover’s house when her son barged in and had an argument with her about her relationship. The police said he strangled her in a fit of anger. “After committing the crime, he was taking away her body with the intent of discarding it. Some people noticed him and raised an alarm. The police arrived at the spot and arrested him,” a senior officer said.

Police officers said Alam often had fights with his mother over her relationship. Ravina had moved into her lover’s house some time ago and he was reportedly very upset over this.

Alam’s father, Alauddin, has a shop in the area, officers added. He and Ravina had five children from their marriage.
