Mumbai Shiv Sena has found "nothing wrong" with the controversial anti-Muslim remarks of BJP's Lok Sabha candidate Varun Gandhi, who it said was "one Gandhi we like".

"There is nothing wrong in what he has said. He is one Gandhi we like," Sena chief Bal Thackeray said in an editorial in party mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

"There was no need for Varun to apologise for his remarks," the editorial said, adding "Varun has spoken out the truth."

Varun is in the eye of a storm over his anti-Muslim speeches at a rally in Pilibhit in UP recently.

Lets support Varun by Cindy Brown on 19 Mar 2009

We love Varun and all Anti Muslims must unite against them and fight. They are terrorists. Lets support Varun. He is our leader

Your love for violence by A.Kader on 19 Mar 2009

Madam, you mean you love and support the cruelty of Varun, okey, then oneday you also risk to be the victim of your own cruelty. This country needs peace , not fights as you wish. The majority of Hindus and Muslims will refuse your way of thinking as Indians, most of us, want to live in peace. Try to cure yourself from your evil thoughts for your own benefit i.e for peace, real love and thereby your happiness.I quote a Russian poem:"He in his madness prays for storms and hopes that storms will bring him peace!"Only fools can think so. Good luck!

varun gandhi by arvindrupani on 20 Mar 2009

I have many muslim friends and i dont have anything against muslims. My objection is political parties showing undue concern and always trying to capture muslim votes they do so many things to placart them. Nearly half of kolkata is under muslim seize 80 % of them are illegal migrants who have managed ration and voting cards and cpm and congress has helped them getting voting power All terrorist are muslims Afzalguru is not hanged inspite supreme court verdict. In another 50 years india will be a muslim country and at that time hindus will be forced to become terrorists

Truth Always Prevails by AshokSen on 18 Mar 2009

Use of religion in politics stop the moment all followers of Jaychand (original secularist of India) in UPA, BJD, JDU, TDP and of course China patriots (communists) stop 'minority' vote card where 12% of the popupation (20 % votes as all of them vote!) decides every election by tactical voting. Majority vote bank creation is a reaction to that fact. Once majority vote bank developes modern day Jayachands have no future. Already it has happened in Gujarat! The way western funded media in collaboration with Jaychands in politics cornering are Hindus, soon it may happen all over India. It is a matter of time. Then the only Gandhi who may matter will be Varun! Instead of fighting it politically, media/UPA using technicilities clearly show that they are afraid of its success! But it is well know, Truth Prevails Always! So they are fighting loosing battle!

jago public by nisha on 18 Mar 2009

i am really suprised to read the comments of the people who are supporting Varun for his speech. Awaken your senses and think, is the religion a tool to be used for gaining power. religion is a faith and very pure in itself and not the tool to be used for playing dirty game of politics.

sheep of the same flock by richard on 18 Mar 2009

I know Many Shiv Sainiks have no love for anyone else except themselves. Because of their hatred, Maharashtrians are not preferred for jobs anywhere else in India. The linguistic workforce they have employed to serve the Maharashtrians is becoming more and more expensive and corrupt. It is high time we learn that we can escape from the weight of our own people only when we have people belonging to different communities and region at our service.

Don't spread this false news by Shallabh on 18 Mar 2009

maharashtrians are never looked down upon anywhere.

Don't write loose things! by Mohini Paranjpe on 18 Mar 2009

Mr. Richard, kindly be careful in what you write. Maharashtrians are preferred all over the world, whether you like it or not. And, in India, certainly they are preferred over desi brown sahibs.

Well, this is true by Pranab on 20 Mar 2009

As a Maharashtrian, and as an employer, I should say that this is true. Some rich, educated and higher class Maharashtrians from Bombay and Pune are undoubtedly at par with the best in the world, however Maharashtra is more than just those cities. People from the interior of Maharashtra are no better than the people from the interior of Bihar. They are definitely looked down when they go elsewhere. It is not a highly visible problem because such Maharashtrians are not enthusiastic about improving their lifestyle, but when they do venture out of their villages they are even less liked than 'Biharis' due to their false empty pride. As a Maharashtrian employer with 18 Maharashtrian employees, I will tell you that as a generalization, people from outside Maharashtra are more spirited and think on their feet better.. Maybe it is a cultural phenomenon, but it is true.

Varun is speaking the truth by Shallabh on 18 Mar 2009

Varun has spoken the truth and Balasaheb is right when he supports him. There is only mention of uniting and fighting for Hindus. No meantion of Muslims.Does uniting and fighting against hindus atrocities a hate crime and then arrest me as well.

Gandhi's remark by shaanaladka on 18 Mar 2009

I am surprised to see people reacting against Shiv Sena for comments made by Varun Gandhi. Why isnt anyone talking about why all other congress Gandhi's are silent to Varun Gandhi's remark..that is because they are playing politics. Shiv Sena at least is being open about its views about Varun's statement. And someone made a statement that Bal Thackery doesnt come out of his Gufaa(Matoshree) and that he is a paper tiger..my question to that person is what will he do if Bal Thackery comes out of his gufaa?

Response by Abhi on 19 Mar 2009

If he does manage to come out of Gufaa he will probably be to go to Lilavati for pain and fever that is if it is not to carry him to the smashan bhumi. This once tiger is toothless and not even fit for a zoo. I am a Maharashtrian myself so dont think I am not. The reason why people are made at Sena is for supporting Varun. Would you support if someone talked good about the NY or Mumbai attacks. Only a f-ool would. so first get the facts right.

Varun is one Gandhi we like, quips Shiv Sena by Jeanette on 18 Mar 2009

Offcourse Mr. Bal Thackeray, birds of a feather stay together. Only thing is, you change your tune whenever you want votes. Sometimes Muslims are praised by you and then discarded when you need the Hindus. Wonder when you die, what are you going to answer to God?

Varun is right by Sumanyu on 18 Mar 2009

I agree with Varun and Sena in totality. Afterall Varun has not taken anybody's name although is shamelessly highlighting that he spoke against muslims. Whats wrong with what Varun spoke. Do we sit quite if someone attacks us. Varun is bold enough yo call spade a spade. Congress is afraid to hang Afzal even after a supre court directive because it fears it will loose Muslim votes. This is congress's shameless greed for power. Atleast Varun and Shiv Sena are not like the Congress.

Politics by Arindam Sinha on 18 Mar 2009

Atleast Varun Gandhi dare to speak the truth. Those who are saying that legal action should be taken against Varun Gandhi. My question is to all of them that when any Muslim leader say any thing against the Hindus then why they dont open their mouth

WHAT COURAGE by K Sundar on 18 Mar 2009

What is this so-called courage of Varun some people are talking about ? My foot. If indeed he is so courageous, he should have stood by his words through thick and thin, but instead we see him retracting under the premise of the CD being forged when even the EC prima-facie has said that there is no inkling of any doctoring of CD. This is the courage of the Sangh Parivar and the BJP which Varun by his experience in the party has nurtured for himself. When the Babri Masjid was demolished, this courageous gang of the Sanghis put the blame on Shiv Sena and now when Varun is being caught red handed the blame the Congress culture for that when the fact is that Varun's first entry to politics has been only the BJP. All said and done, this incident and many other incidents in the past have conclusively proved that BJP is a party of cheaters.

Short-cut to be PM by Raj on 18 Mar 2009

Avrun ji, Modi Ji, Advani Ji, Thakkarey jisss, zindabad, Jai Hind. Silly people, silly thinking, killing neighbors in the name of religion and gods. Will enver lean. Any one with such stupid statements become heroes and will be next candidate for PM. If you want to be the PM of India, keep saying and doig what Advani, Modi and Varun did.

Big conspiracy by congress !! by skg on 18 Mar 2009

Sonia and her sychopancy followers are making all atempts to malign and crush Varun Gandhi. Let the truth come out. There are lot of Clerics in Mosques who have made such comments on Hindus. Hope the law will also punish these clerics if Varun is punished if convicted of hate speech crime.

EC should sent strong notice to Shiv Sena by voice on 18 Mar 2009

EC should sent another notice to Shiv Sena Party, if they didn't apology they should ban Shiv Sena party

Be careful, do not lose sense by AmarAkbarAnthony on 18 Mar 2009

When he did come out during his times, you had your tail in an unknown location..Don't forget the past or you will not have a future.

Varun is right sena is brave by SB on 18 Mar 2009

Varun is not wrong. he has not uttered anybody's name.He has clearly talked against anybody trying to attack and destroy Hindus. Defending ourselves against any inhumane is wrong in india? Why Abu Azmi and the SP-minister who demanded the head of Danish artist, or MF Hussain who has been assasinating sentiments of a community openly are spared in the view of pseudo secularists and media like RajDeep and others.

STOP THIS by K Sundar on 18 Mar 2009

If Varun is indeed so brave and courageous, why he is saying that the CD has been forged and doctored ??
