Dear Sir,Vip security in India is fast becoming a menace which needs elimination.Terrorist threat is much more in countries other than India.But there is no security tamasha like that of India.The Politicians are spending crores on their elections so they should manage their own security.Actually security has become a status symbol with Politicians.Role of the State forces is more for the VIP security with nothing left with them for their own role of policing and checking crime and that is how the crime is on the rise.In a state like Panjab, roads are closed for hours together with the kaafla of Chief Minister and the self styled Deputy Chief Minister besides their status hungry Rishtedaars and other Politicians,all this at the cost of Public safety

Whether you like it or not, Varun Gandhi is an elected MP. What are the qualifications of Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra for whom the government is providing high security from the national exchequer? She is not even an elected leader.

Most of the comments against Varun Gandhi in this column are based on the propaganda that Varun had actually made that alleged speech. He has time and again claimed that the CD was doctored and its contents were not entirely his own. While the Lakhnow Forensic Scientific Lab has said that the CD was not doctored, the Chandigadh FSL has said that the possibility of it being doctored cannot be ruled out. Nobody has any answer to the questions as to where was the CD during the 12 days from the date of the alleged speech(5th March) and the date on which its contents were broadcast. Nor there has been any explanation why there had been not even a minor protest in and around Pilibhit during those 12 days despite his alleged speech until the media propagated it. The fact that he won the election with such huge margin casts doubts about the propaganda against him. Does it mean that all those nearly 5 lakh voters of his constituency who voted for him despite the concerted propaganda against him were Hindu fanatics?

Varun's problem may be more due to family feud. If he joins Congress Party perhaps his problem gets solved and becomes a hero. It all boils down to the question of power. It is the unfortunate accidental death of Sanjay gandhi that made it possible for Rajiv Gandhi to become the PM and don the mantle of Royal family. If Sanjay were still alive and in power, Chidambaram would have spared a battalion of armed guards fot the security of Varun Gandhi and would have left Sonia and Rahul to defend themselves.
