According to Afzal Hussain, brother of the victim: “We were called by the officer-incharge of the Park Street police station after two days of my brother’s death. We were told about the compensation package, but we were mentally not prepared to discuss the matter and we asked them to give us some more time.”

Afzal, however, repeatedly tried to contact officials of McDonald’s through the Park Street police station after a few days, but remained unsuccessful. “My brother was just 22-year-old when he died in the blast. All of my efforts to get in touch with McDonald’s official were in vain,” said Afzal.

Rajesh Kumar Naini, McDonald’s, Corporate Communication GM, however, said the family had been offered a compensation package but they refused to take it.
