Victim’s lover arrested for murder

Kolkata, June 16 Two weeks after a married woman was found murdered at her home in Ramkrishna Pally in Thakurpukur area of South 24 Parganas, the police today claimed of solving the case by arresting the lover of the victim. This after the police had suspected the victim’s husband as the murderer.

The police today arrested one Kajibul Sheikh from his home in Narayangarh village under Suti police station in Murshidabad. According to them, Kajibul had developed an illicit relation with the victim, Sudha Rani, about six months ago. Both used to meet often at night and her relation with husband Sourin Ghosh started deteriorating. On the intervening night of June 1 and June 2, Kajibul had come to meet Rani.

She told Kajibul that her brother-in-law had left behind some cash and jewellery in her house. According to police sources, Kajibul strangulated Rani with his belt and fled away with the valuables. The police said that some of the ‘missing’ jewellery was found from Kajibul’s house.
