Dutt's role in the remake of 'Agneepath', which was played by a suave Danny Denzongpa in the original revenge drama of the same name, has been completely revamped with the 52-year-old actor sporting a bald and threatening look.

Directed by Karan Johar's former assistant, Karan Malhotra, 'Agneepath' is the remake of the 1990 superhit film, immortalised of sorts by Amitabh Bachchan with his baritone delivery of raw dialogues and punch lines with the character of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan at the helm.

Villains in Hollywood are always scary and powerful, unlike in Hindi films where the bad guys are often thrashed mercilessly by the hero, he said. "If you see superhero films like 'Spiderman', 'Batman', 'Ironman' or any Hollywood film, there the character of villain is very 'kaufnak' (scary) and too powerful."

"In Hollywood movies, the villain takes up the case of hero... till the end when something happens. It is nice that Karan Johar and Karan Malhotra thought that villain is larger-than-life and no one can stand up against him," Dutt said in an interview.

In the remake version, Kancha, with his wicked smile, bulky physique and puffed-up eyes, is in total contrast to the hero, Hrithik Roshan, who plays Vijay Dinanath Chauhan and looks a simple man.

So will Kancha overshadow the hero? "To say that Kancha will overshadow Vijay or vice-versa is childish. But I can say one thing for sure - aisa villain kabhi aaya nahi hai Indian screen pe (such a villain has not appeared till date)."

Talking about his character, Dutt said, "Kancha is an unpredictable character. He believes in Bhagwad Gita, which he has interpreted in his own way. He is a complex character and to understand him is very difficult. Kancha would have been a challenging character for any actor. It is a difficult decision for any actor whether or not to do such a role as it is a very dark character. There is no justification for Kancha to be a villain."

The character was conceived entirely by the director, the 'Khal Nayak' star said. "I did not decide anything; Karan Malhotra did everything. This was his sketch of the character, and when he brought the sketches he was sure Kancha will be bald. We agreed for prosthetics but that did not work so I had to shave my head," Dutt said.
