Jalandhar, January 15 Central Jail, Jalandhar, which was in the news last week for rioting by jail inmates, again witnessed some action when five inmates were injured in a fight over use of a cell phone inside the jail yesterday night.

Reportedly, recently arrested hardcore criminal Raja Saipuria was using his cell phone in jail last night. Seeing this, another inmate, Darshan Singh requested Saipuria to give him the cell as he wanted to make a call. Saipuria refused and this led to a fight between both the inmates and their supporters.

Of the five inmates injured, four were admitted to the jail hospital, while Darshan Singh has been admitted to the Civil Hospital.

Jail Superintendent G.S. Sidhu, when contacted, said they could not locate the cell phone despite a search inside the jail premises. He said a case has been registered against the accused.
