Chandigarh, February 12 Former Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, S S Virk has moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking directions to the Central Administrative Tribunal for speedy disposal of his suspension case pending with it.

Virk’s advocate Charanjit Bakshi argued that the case filed by Virk challenging his suspension by the Punjab government has reached no conclusion and is still pending with the tribunal.

Virk has further alleged that the Punjab government was deliberately delaying the case by not filing the reply and seeking adjournments to block his appointment as the DGP in Maharashtra.

Since the case is scheduled to come up for hearing on February 20 at the tribunal, the court asked Bakshi if he wanted to wait for the next hearing.

Giving his consent, the advocate sought adjournment awaiting any further development on February 20. The case will now come up for hearing in the High Court on February 22.

Earlier, Virk had raised questions over the ‘aberrant’ conduct of the Punjab government where in he was given charge sheet 10 days after suspension by the government.

Countering the allegations levelled by the former DGP, the Punjab government had submitted that at the time of the commission of the alleged offences, Virk was in service. The reply had further stated that since Virk was an employee at the time, the Punjab government had all the right to charge him.
