Kolkata, August 01 Come the Independence Day weekend and you can take advantage of the collaboration between Air India Express and Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

The collaboration, which was sealed on Friday, intends to offer attractive packages to the tourists travelling to Singapore and Bangkok.

Kenneth Lim, area director, STB, said: “India ranks fourth among our top 10 markets and between January to May 2008, the Kolkata sector has registered a phenomenal growth of 15.6 per cent.”

The tourism board intends to target the hinterland of eastern India by joint advertising and promotions that will include road shows and travel fairs among a host of other activities.

“We believe that Kolkata along with cities like Jamshedpur and Bhubaneswar will contribute to our growth,” said Lim.

STB is also collaborating with various travel agents in the area and intends to offer attractive hotel and tour packages. For the same, the Air India Express has introduced new fares with return tickets as low as Rs 12,000.
