Coimbatore Vodafone, a major cellular operator has crossed seven million customer base in Tamil Nadu, registering year-on-year growth in Tamil Nadu for the last three years, a senior company official said.

Speaking to reporters after unveiling a replica of the Vodafone Mclaren Mecedes Formula 1 Car, K Sundararaman, Vice-president, Vodafone Cellular (Tamil Nadu), said the company has 100 per cent coverage in towns in the state, with 6,400 cell sites. Work was on to add to the network and capacity, he said.

The car is an exact replica of the one driven by 2008 Formula 1 World champion Lewis Hamilton, he said.

This is the second time that Vodafone, title Sponsor and Official mobile partner of the Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes Team, was bringing the car to India, Sundaraman said.

Mclaren is one of the most successful Formula 1 teams, having won over 150 races, 11 drivers' championships and eight Constructors' Championships.
