Hyderabad The Mumbai terror strikes have stirred a range of emotions among Indians. There was deep anguish, concern, anger and of course, contempt. There also was mockery and a certain indifference in the pent up feelings.

A string of SMSes that filled the inboxes of mobile phones in the last two days have carried these emotions across the nation.

The tone of these short messages was loud and clear: hang the likes of Afzal Guru and put down terror with an iron hand.

"Forgiving a terrorist should be left to God. But fixing their appointment with God is entirely our responsibility," read one short message which had a by-line Indian Army.

This was an obvious reference to Afzal Guru, the key accused who was awarded death penalty by the Supreme Court in the attack on Parliament case.

Another said: "We salute the brave officers who laid down their lives in protecting us and our country, including Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Chief Hemant Karkare, police officers Ashok Kamte and Vijay Salaskar."

Yet another SMS urged people to pray for the people who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

"Vote properly to make this country worth dying for," read a terse message that was ostensibly kept in circulation by police officials.

There was one interesting message in in-boxes on Friday suggesting that date '26' has turned out to be ominous, going by the chronology of events.

"December 26-tsunami, January 26-Kutch quake, February 26-Godhra, June 26-Gujarat floods, July 26-Mumbai train blast, July 26-Ahmedabad blasts and November 26-Mumbai terror strikes."

Another SMS asked, "Where is Raj Thackeray and his brave Sena? Tell him that 200 NSG commandos from Delhi, south and north India have been sent to Mumbai to fight the terrorists, so that he can sleep peacefully.

I am afraid the Crisis and Consequence Management has severely damaged India's image in the World. It is during Crisis that the Country is Tested and the response reveals our lack of Preparedness for emergencies whether natural or man made.

unless root is removed, this will not stop. with international in our favour, strike now to elliminate camps in pok and bengladesh / nepal. recapture pok, use this opportunity to remove article 370 of j and k, and we would have solved majority of problems.

Mumbai Lost it's Bravehearts by Ajay on 29 Nov 2008

As for comments about "Where is Raj Thackeray and his brave Sena" I would like to say that terrorism and jobs for Marathi youths is totally different subject why make connections and start ugly debate at this juncture. As for brave NSG arriving from North India, it shows how Maharashtra and Finance capital of India Mumbai without which India is nothing is been treated by Delhi. India has milked Mumbai but an not afford to have a permanent NSG stationed in Mumbai. Do not forget that Mumbai and Maharashtra has lost 3 most decorated officers with other 11 policemen all Mumbaikars.

Illiterate Politicians by LK on 29 Nov 2008

Most of the political group is foolish and illiterate. They don't care surf internet to know the mood of public after incidents as barbaric as these. So, none of our anguish and anger will b known to them.Interesting enough, there was a NCP MP interviewed after he was rescued from Taj / Oberoi some one Gaiekwad and he mentioned that his stay was comfortable. He might have meant to say that he did not panicked but saying that he was at comfort and that he had been working on his laptop about the footprints of his election rallies in 408 villages shows what goes in the mind of politicians even during incidents as such.Isn't it true, the terrorists has only terror in their mind, they did not distinguished or show mercy on the name of Young / old or men / women and in a similar way politics is the only thing in our politicians mind. We are unsafe because of our politicians. They don't care about anyone except themselves. They are bigger threats than out terrorists.

Indian security establishment is UNDERSTAFFED..intl meda.. VERY TRUE by Manu on 29 Nov 2008

The only thing now possible..The Youth of India should come forward from simply wasting their life behind the western bad culture of hang outs and sitting behind PC all the time to create an awareness in the youth and others to rise above the cast/regional/relegious politcs. They can eliminate these venoms from our society. Internationa media came down heavily on our govt saying its incapable of curbing terrorism in the country!! what a shame. The point they made, which is true, that our security establishment is UNDERSTAFFED!! which is true. India is blessed with youth within the age rage of 25-30 more than any other country that too qualified. Why dont we increase the number of forces by making a massive recruiting spree so that the unemployment can be reduced and the security system can be improved. Secondly the govt should make sure that the different section of security dept act hand in hand and no ego clash and operational clash which came out in this incident..

Mumbai terror attack by Narin Ailawadi on 01 Dec 2008

The real problem is being overlooked again; the governing class -UPA and its secularist cohorts in the media and think tanks - has no political will to counter jehadi terrorism; they prefer to hide their head in the sand ostrich style, close their eyes like a chicken under knife so as not to see the security threat. Already, this class is claiming no local connection with the terrorists; and harping on pakistani connection only. They are trying to fool us once again, thereby absolving themselves of any responsiblity (since Pakistan is involved). How can such a well-planned attack take back w/o local infrastucture in place? Blaming on the intelligence failure is not the sufficient; who is responsible for staffing and providing the necessary hardware and training? Again, this terror attack like all others before it will go unsolved, and the self-styled secularists will hark back on hindu terrorism. The entire govt must resign for failure to repeatedly perform its primary function - protection of its citizens. An emergency must be declared and military - the only dependable institution in the country - be assigned the task of tackling jehadi terrorism wherever the leads go.
