Kolkata, November 12: Taking suo moto cognizance of CPI (M) activists recapturing some areas in Nandigram, the West Bengal Human Rights Commission has directed the state government to submit a report to it within two weeks.

In the absence of WBHRC Chairman Justice (retd) S K Sen, three other members -- Justice (retd) N C Sil, former chief secretary Sourin Roy and member Md. Nissar Khan -- issued the direction to the state government, HRC sources in Kolkatta said.

"Notice has already been served to the Chief Secretary," the sources said.

On November six, two persons were killed and eight others injured as CPI (M) supporters from Khejuri fired at Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee supporters in Nandigram and began recapturing areas there.

Home Secretary P R Roy had said that the area looked like a war field and that the barrage of fire had come from Khejuri.

Asked if the CPI (M) had gained control of some areas, Roy had said "possibly CPI (M) has gained some areas."
