The applicant parents will have to present the certificate to get the ration card.
UT Home Secretary Krishna Mohan said that the production of immunisation certificate would also be essential if the holder of the card wanted to include the name of a child in the age group of 0-5 years in the ration card.
“Public support to achieve this objective is essential and all should encourage the immunisation drive against six vaccine preventable diseases in the age group of 0-5 years,” he said.
According to the Administration, the beneficiary, who has no record of immunisation of his child at the time of applying for a fresh or renewal of ration card will be required to get his child immunised as required for that age before his application is accepted.
Last year, the Administration had made it compulsory for the schools to admit only those children who have the immunisation certificates indicating adherence to the immunisation schedule.
Departments of Food and Civil Supplies, Social Welfare, Health has been instructed for compliance with the order.
