Panchkula, March 5 Miffed over the poor sanitation, stray cattle menace and problem of waterlogging, the residents of this ward are looking forward to a new councillor who would seriously deal with their problems. The residents rue that the authorities have failed to pay heed to various issues of the ward. However, area councillor Om Prakash is rather satisfied with the developmental works initiated by him and promises to finish the pending works if brought to power again.

Complaints and expectations of the residents

“The poor condition of roads in the sector has always been a cause of concern. Even the streetlights have remained non-functional all these years,” said Ritu Mahajan, a resident of the sector. She added that efforts should be initiated to fence the area around the railway line passing through the sector, commonly known as the killer stretch, to curb the rising number of fatal accidents.

For Suresh Gupta, the problem of stray animals has only worsened in all these years. “We are literally suffering as the authorities have failed to check on the problem even after regular complaints. The problem of water logging, which remained bad since last year, has improved in the last few months only after the residents complained regularly.”

For Manohar Lal, another resident of the ward, the ever-increasing congress grass in the sector needs immediate attention. “Large amount of congress grass all around in the sector creates a lot of problem especially during rain.

Councillor Om Prakash says, “Personally I feel the overall work done in the ward has been satisfactory. Besides getting concrete roads for the ward, we also got a dispensary constructed. Another major work in the last five years was the conversion of a primary school in the sector into a high school.” Efforts were also made to control water logging, which also led to cracks in roads, he added.
