Kochi Union Defence Minister AK Antony said on Saturday that the Congress is ready to face the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"I do not know when the election schedule for the Lok Sabha will be announced. However, myself and my friends' (apparently meaning Congress party), mental frame is ready to face the polls," Antony said at the inauguration of the valedictory function of the Ruby Jubilee celebrations of the Ernakulam Press Club in Kochi.

Antony said the functions he would be attending on Saturday will be his last as Defence Minister.

"One function is connected with my old family (press club) and the other function is connected with my present family (Defence)."
