Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman Tariq Majid asked the new American administration to tone down the rhetoric.
General Majid said that “Pakistan need not prove its sincerity to foreign powers and such unhelpful statements must stop”. He added that it is ‘repetitive rhetoric by external force’.
Fight against terror linked to aid, Obama warns Pak
Earlier, "(President Barack) Obama and (Vice President Joe) Biden will increase non-military aid to Pakistan and hold them accountable for security in the border region with Afghanistan," the White House said in its foreign policy agenda document released soon after Obama occupied the Oval office.
Biden, a known expert on Afghanistan and Pakistan, then in the capacity as the Chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, had introduced legislation in the US Senate in this regard.
Co-authored jointly by the Republican Senator, Richard Lugar, the legislation proposes to triple non-military aid to Pakistan in the next five years.
The legislation authorises USD 7.5 billion over five years in aid that can be used for development purposes, such as building schools, roads and clinics. The bill also calls for greater accountability on security assistance, to improve Pakistani counterterrorism capabilities and ensure more effective efforts against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
The foreign policy agenda of the Obama Administration on Pakistan is in tune with the well known policies of Biden, which was also echoed by the Secretary of State-designate, Hillary Clinton during her nomination hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee early this month.
As the key points of the Obama's foreign policy agenda revealed yesterday indicated, the new administration is expected to follow the key elements of Biden-Lugar proposals introduced last year.
In lieu of USD 1.5 billion of non-military aid to Pakistan, Islamabad would be required to making concerted efforts to prevent Al-Qaeda and associated terrorist groups from operating in its territory and make concerted efforts to prevent the Taliban from using its territory as a sanctuary to launch attacks within Afghanistan.
Islamabad would also need to ensure that it does not materially interfere in the political or judicial processes of the country, the legislation says.

Paki sincerity is the joke of the millennium !
For a change UK and USA have swaped their approach towards Pakistan, Terrorism and the issues faced by India. Milliband from UK recently took a very surprising position when he visited India. It will be the golden day when Pakistan and India realise the games that super powers play and how their local economies are boosted through sale of high tech warfare, accessories and training etc. services on the one hand and our valuable human and financial resources wasted on the other thus they stay where they want to be....
Everybody knows in the world that Pakistan is the one who promote terorrism, supply Neuclear formulas to many with the help of Aids being received from all over the places. History reveals that nobody can trust them. What America or any other country needs to do is - STOP ALL FINANCIAL / MILITARYAIDS to them with immediate effect. May be there is a chance - they will improve. Nothing short is enough.
They need to prove their sincerity only to Taliban and Al Quida.
Pakistan needs unconditional aid because it is a deceitful country stating it is fighting terrorism on its western borders and at the same time abetting terrorism in the east.The Pakistani leadership have accumulated so much venom against India since 1971,they are awaiting for the opportunity.But they won't have that chance.India was fair in 1971 and now as well.The ISI/Army complex is trying to deceive US but cannot succeed.Bombay carnage was planned and executed by them.Planned by Hamid Gul/Hafez Sayeed/Lakhvi.
Pak minister's comment is true only if they are not begging for US aid. first stop begging from US and middle-east jokers then talk of proving your sincerity. Its a matter of time when these pakis will be bombed to stoneage by US.
A poor Pakistan means more danger to India. Aid should be welcomed but with serious accountabily for every cent. At the same time India, who wants to be the next super power, should have a system in place to safeguard our country against the attacks carried out by these small terrorist groups. We should not be worried who the next US president is going to be and how his response to the Kashimir issue is going to effect us. India; we are people one billion people strong and we have the responsibily to choose the best leaders for our country. We need strong leaders not criminals in political power and until we bring about that change we will never control our own destiny as a country. We will always blame other countires for our circumstances when we should be dealing with it ourselves.
TERROR AND PAKISTAN ARE NON-SEPARABLE. EACH AND EVERY PAKISTANI IS A TERRORIST. THEY NEED TO BE TAUGHT A LESSON. INFACT, IT IS THE TIME THAT THE WORLD COMMUNICTY MUST ISOLATE PAKISTAN AND MAKE IT TO SUFFER. ONLY FROM SUFFERING PAKISTAN WILL UNDERSTAND WHAT IS AID.
We Indians never had the guts to respond this way to US or UK rather to any super power. Atleast our enemies have got.

President Obama needs time to control blackmailing carried on by pakistani "State Actors". Pakistan is the root cause of terrorism in the whole world and No one knows it better than VP ,Mr Biden. Let's hope that God give enough courage to President Obama to control terrorism by pakistani state and non state actors.
It is unreasonable for US to expect Pakistan to be sincere. Of course they can never be sincere. Pak has always been the devil who seeks to hide its true intentions, thinking that they could fool the rest of the world. It is funny to see them acting this way even after their game is up and the mask is coming off!
Beggars cannot choose.Pakistan should remember that in the past dollars received from the US were used or diverted to use against Inidia. This is not going to be under Obama. He had made it very clear during the campaign that Pakistanshould be made accountable for the billions of dollars it received to fight terrorism in the AfghanPakistan border. Now Pakistanis are getting the heat and it will be interesting to see how things develop.
Obama and Biden will, very soon, learn a few lessons when they start dealing with the double-dealing Pakis. Instead of wasting their money on the Pakis, the Americans should use that same money to bail out their own people(especially the old) who are in bad shape, financially, because of crooked bankers and financiers, maladministered financial institutions and the manipulators on Wall Street.
In this changing scenerio 'beggers are becoming choosers". is America is capable to stop this? or these terrorist will do their WORK?
Stop pampering Pakistan!
The US gives milk to snake Pakistan. Pakistan gives milk to snake AlQaeda. Alqaeda gives blood to The US. This is the latest world order.
What do we expect the US president to do? Act for America or loose sleep over India. To Aid Pakistan for Civil development is the most reasonable thing to do, I only hope the money goes to building schools and is not siphoned off into corrupt pockets. Corruption is endemic to the subcontinent. As regards asking Pak to pull up its socks and be sincere on the North West Frontiers with specific reference to Afghanistan is again wellcome. What do we expect a American president to do? Obviously look for whats in Americas interest. It high time we stop expecting Obama to act for India, if he does most wellcome, if he dosent and acts in the paramount interest of America he is only doing his job. We better ask our political leaders to do theirs. How long do we want the largest Democrasy in the world India to keep on looking askance to what the worlds greatest natjons United States of America does to favor it? If we are worth our salt lets proove it, support USA where it is in our interest.
How about linking aid to Pakistan in quitting terror as State policy not just at their western border but at their eastern border also. Indian blood is just as valuable as the US/NATO blood.
Even after 26 /11 if USA is not convienced about the state of affairs in Pakistan,there is not much that India can hope from the new administration.The USA is only "America centric" and would not allow India to carry out a strike on the terrorist training camps in POK as this would de-stablise their war in Afagnistan with Pakistan army threating to withdraw from the Afganistan borders .Therefore, it is imperative for India to find a new ally that supports it in defending its freedom. Even when our heart of democracy was attacked by Pakistan trained militants,the US prevented us from slapping the Pakis as there war in Afganistan was just beginning and they did not want any adverse effect on hte US soldiers.Come on Indian Politicians ( of pariies) have some guts and rise above petty politics ,stand united and fight the Pakis out of Kashmir !
Pakistan is in deep trouble because now they have do not have president Bush to back them up, but a new president who is stern sure to fight jihadi and terrorist elements including the likes of Bajrang Dal and VHP facists, and everyuone is backing him up.
Neither the Pakis to give account of the millions of Dollars the American are giving to them in the name of security along the Afghan border and also on humanitarian grounds. All the Pakis need to do is ensure that they receive the funds regularly without interruption! What a beggers, shamless beggers?
Why not the world just bulldoze Pakistan and kame that country ( without any paki) as a free world wherein no country can cliam by any war the land and make it the centre for UN, WHO, WFP, UNESCO, WB, IMF etc., so that all countries can save huge money and be independant of any intereferance by any individual country like USA. This New country can be the world's HQ and aho, not an iota of PAki blood be left, else only OSAMA's mushroom
The thing that america knows more than us that there aid is gona us in anti-india way.Still they give them more and more aid?....I think we all know by date that american policy makers just don't think in one or two years forward....they may be calculating 50 or 100 years ahead, when india could be a sizable nation.....in comparision.......So like them...India too should be some smart now...........make our intelligence agencies...best in world.........to understand all this........
