Islamabad Within two days of publicly admitting that Pak soil and shores were used to launch the Mumbai terror attacks, Pakistan added a fresh twist as Pak's Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Saturday that they might seek the custody of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist captured during the Mumbai terror attacks, if its investigators recommend and courts ask for him.

"If Ajmal Kasab is needed for the investigation process, then India could be asked (to hand) him over. We first had to register an FIR (first information report on the Mumbai strikes). This has been done. Now, if our investigators recommend and the court asks for him, then we will ask for access to him (Kasab)," Malik said, adding that "So far, we have not asked for Kasab's custody."

India, however, did not react officially on the Pak media reports. But, sources said in New Delhi that it is certain that they will not hand over Kasab to Pakistan, since he has committed crime on the Indian soil.

Malik, however, said Kasab was one of the eight suspects named in the FIR registered by the Federal Investigation Agency on the Mumbai strikes. Six of the suspects have been arrested while two are at large.

"We have asked India for more information so that we can go to court. We are accountable to the people of Pakistan and to the courts and we want to ensure justice is delivered," Malik maintained.

"We have to protect the interests of the nation. We have to ensure that the interests of our people are protected," he added.

On Thursday, Pakistan had listed Kasab among nine accused in a FIR filed in connection with the Mumbai attacks. Kasab was captured alive and nine other terrorists were killed in the attacks that killed 183 people.

Pakistani authorities have six of the nine accused named in the FIR, including Lashker-e-Toiba operatives Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, Zarar Shah and Hamad Amin Sadiq, in custody.

PAKISTAN TERRORIST WILL INDIA HAND OVER???? by KUMAR on 16 Feb 2009

These guys were telling sometime back that the arrested person is not from Pakistan and now they accept and say that a part of the planning was done in Pakistan whom do they think they are fooling they might be able to fool the present central government who dosent have the backbone and it cannot be done for long only till the elections. But one thing Our Hon ble F.M might even accompany kasab the terrorist who has been caught alive to Pakistan he might take a pleasure trip like the one he took to Sri Lanka last month in this government anything is possible.?????

Dirty face of terrorist Pakistan by ramesh k on 15 Feb 2009

Indians are shameless and do not have self respect. If we dont have the guts to destroy the terrorist camps across the border, at least snap the diplomatic ties with this terrorist nation. Why do we need diplomatic or any other relations with a terrorist nation? Congress/UPA govt. should stop playing this appeasement and votebank politics and take action against Pakistan. Those who dont like this action, should vacate our country and go to Pakistan!

Noble Thoughts by Leo Dmel on 15 Feb 2009

Noble thoughtsSo good is the mind of the Pakistanis that they have come out with such a noble request. It is great that they are now expecting custody of the only surviving pak national who committed murders as he was led astray. The Govt. of India should immediately handover the custody of Kasab to Pakistan as it had done with Azhar Mahmood. Also it should build more relations with Pakistan, trade and bilateral to come more closer to a Strong Pakistan. All that has happened in the past should be forgiven and forgotton by India so that a new chapter could start. Indians should be grateful to Pakistan for all the trouble they have taken in arresting the militants on their own soil.

TRUST by Anjali on 15 Feb 2009

Pak will never forgive ,for what India did to Pak stab in the back during 1971 War. Every Pakistani will continue to bear that burden in their hearts, that India cannot be trusted.

INDIA SHOULD SAY EMPHATIC NO TO PAK,UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES by Krishen sharma on 15 Feb 2009

NEVER NEVER. Instead ask Pakistan to hand over all the terrorists listed by India who are being patronized by that country.

We may seek custody of Kasab by Iquebal on 15 Feb 2009

This is another attempt from Pakistan to divert attention from the fact that they are the breeding ground of terrorists. Why don't they hand over the mastermind of the Mumbai incident to India?

Do not release Animals by Tarashankar Rudra on 15 Feb 2009

Pakistan should stop day dreaming with such childish requests. We all know what they did to the LET Terrorists released after the plane hijack. Animals feasting on Humans when released in a jungle like Pakistan, enjoys a lavish life with wealth and praise. The Indian Government must be aware of that.

Hate First by Anjali on 15 Feb 2009

You are only posting messages that are anti-Pak. Is that the largest democracy all about ? I think India has messed up big time with 26/11 investigation. Indi policy had been to bring bad name to Pak VS solving the issue. This has been the main thrust. Imagine if such a terror had happened in Canada and the Americans were involved. Would USA cooperate with Cand, absolutely. In the case 26/11. Indi was careless about solving the issue, her focus was to only defame Pak . You know people read it through what Indi was trying to do and got sick. with 24 hate message. Indi media has done a great dis-service. people in Pak are equally distrubed as people in India about 26/11. Message of hate from Indian media is foolish.

We may seek custody of Kasab by Syamasundara prasad Turaga on 14 Feb 2009

Hellow! There is a twist in pakistan's interior minster. The twist is that out of ten terrorists nine were already killed by India. The lone one surviving is a danger to Pakistan and anyhow he should be retrived, so the twist. Once India hands over Kasab to Pakistan, it denies all the chartges and asks India to produce proof. So I strongly warn UPA Government not to give way to Pakistan. If the UPA Government does id it is clear to the Indian public that UPA Government is hand in glove with the terrorists. So my request is to all loyal citizens of INDIA to weed out congressparty from the roots.

Pakis by nobleguy on 14 Feb 2009

Screw the Pakis for whatever they say, don't listen to them. Our government seems to be too impotent actually. Why can't you just snap each and every tie with them? Actually there is nothing called Pakistan, it is just a part of India.

In no case. Pak wants to destroy Kasab and the evidence by Satindar on 14 Feb 2009

No way. In no case and under no pretext . Pakistan seeks Kasab's custody to destroy him and all the evidence connected which he can verify.Pakistans police , invetigation system ,prosecution and judicial system are not reliable. They are biased and prone to corruption .Even Pakistanis themselves don't believe in their fairness. That is why the UN commission has been requested to conduct investigation of "Benazir Bhutto murder" case.

Pakistani Hero by Babu on 14 Feb 2009

Kasab will get a heros welcome in pakistan and the freedom and money.Do not forget what pakistan had done with Indian airline hijackers.Donot forget what pakistan was doing over the last 61 years. How many Indian soliders and civilians lost their LIVES because of the pakis. NEVER TRUST THE PAKIS in a million years,

Pakistani Drama by Mohammed Gazni on 14 Feb 2009

Pakistan seems to be living in a dream world. First they commit a major crime and then ask for the perpetrator to have a welcome homecoming! What idiots. Pakistan is proving itself to the world what its true colors are: a coniving snake with not much life left. DEATH TO PAKISTAN!

LIARS by Raman Singh on 14 Feb 2009

First they said they did-not know anything about Kasab. Later, they agreed he was a Paki citizen. Now, they are saying they need his extradition. Come on, so much lies, so much uglyness and still India appears calm, cool and composed listening to all the things the Paki and their media are saying. Very unfortunate to have leader like ours.

UTTER CRAP by B. SRIDHAR on 14 Feb 2009

SEEKING KASAB'S CUSTODY IS CRAP. WE SHOULD UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES HAND OVER KASAB. FIRST LET PAK FULFIL THEIR OBLIGATION OF NABBING ALL THOSE MENTIOND IN THE DOSSIER. WE SHOULD SEEK CUSTODY OF ALLL INDIAN CITIZENS GIVEN ASYLUM IN PAKISTAN. IT IS A SHAME THAT THE UPA GOVT. HAS NOT EVEN WITHDRAWN THE MFN STATUS GIVEN TO PAK. WHY THE HELL THERE SH OULD BE DIPLOMATIC TIES WITH PAK. SNAP DIPLOMATIC TIES, CLOSE THE ROAD AND RAIL SHOWS. WARN THEM EITHER DO OR DIE.

Trust by Anjali on 15 Feb 2009

Look, who is talkingfulfilling obligatitions, where were you when India stabbed Pak in the back during 71 war. Are you going to send all those who committed that crime to Pakistan. Pak needs to question Kasab to find out if India is telling the truth. It is legit request.

PAK wants kasib by sardar bahadur on 15 Feb 2009

Come on be sport and coprate with Pakistan,in gettig these peoples punished and stop others commiting crimes like this.Show to the world,by demanding actions from Pakistan in return india will fully coprate and and will fully provide true information. What you are afraid of - that truth will come out that help was provided from inside india.Furthermore stop hating Pakistan and telling that you will destroy us.But remember inthe end there will be no india as well.

Paks want Kasab's custody by Dr. Paras Deo on 14 Feb 2009

Pakistan seems to have strange notions about what India should or not do. Kasab has been a part of a massive crime in India and must remain in Inidia's custody. Rest is just plain CRAP!!!

Manipulators as they are by romesh.sharma on 14 Feb 2009

Before shouting like this Rehman Malik should take care that all those twenty criminals wanted by India are handed over.Dawood's name appears in many FIRs and is confirmed criminal.there are many cases including of murder are pending against him and others.Be sensible and hand them over to Indian authorities then only India may consider this request of access to Kasab. These tricks and manipulations are too cheap and white lies to prolong the matter as much as possible which with the passage of time will lose importance and later forgotten. Moreover Pakistan must admit and take full responsibility of Mumbai attack and not just conspiracy and that too partially.Pak must come out with crystal clear language and no round abouts.

Plotters by Ganesh on 14 Feb 2009

Like releasing the freezed bank account of Quotrocci,I will not be surprised if this UPA government with no national interest at heart, may even hand him over to Pakistan and feign that he escaped.

Blackmailers are out to blackmail world community? by gary on 14 Feb 2009

Paistani "state actors" are back on the stage to create more and more confusion so that they can deflect world attention from the main focus of "mumbai carnage"? nothing will come out of enquiries being conducted by masters of such criminals? for example do you still remeber 1984 carnage? all the criminals are enjoying political power in Delhi and similar is the planning by pak to buy time in a bid to protect her "non state actors"?

Pak ploy by Suresh on 14 Feb 2009

Great.. this is even better strategy than hijacking airplanes and getting custody of masood azhar... now we know why pak admitted kasab's role... to get him back safely.... forget about getting dawood here.. we might even lose kasab..

Dream on Pak by Robert on 14 Feb 2009

Malik must be smoking something stronger than tobbaco to think they would get kasab.

Can't agree with you more. Videoconferencing to the rescue by Anthony Joseph on 14 Feb 2009

The Indian government can and should provide access of Kasab to the Pakistani establishment. For that they need not send him to Pakistan or for that matter bring him out of the jail. USE VIDEOCONFERENCING technology, nothing more, nothing less. At the same time demand access to all these wanted terrorists on Pakistani soil, after all they are wanted in the courts of India, are they not.

Pakis the day dreamers by Lalit on 15 Feb 2009

Yes we know Pakis are just bullshiting about the custody of Kasab, important is how UPA responds, so the govt response has been very stern, all talks no walks, snap all the diplomatic and commercial ties with terrorist nation like Pakistan just blackened their name, these investigations will not lead anywhere, just an eye wash, dunt belive wolf who is wearing skin of sheep - Jai Hind, Jai Ram Sena, Jai Shiv Sena, Jai Bajran Dal !!!
