Pune, July 9: Forecast valid until the morning of July 11th. Rain/thundershowers at:

East: Many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand and a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar.

North: Many places in west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, east Rajasthan and a few places in east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and west Rajasthan.

Central: Many places in Madhya Pradesh (north Madhya Pradesh ), Chattisgarh (north Chattisgarh) and a few places in Vidarbha.

Peninsula: Many places in Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala; a few places in Gujarat state, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and isolated places in Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and north interior Karnataka.

Islands: Many places in Andaman, Nicobar and Lakshadweep.

Temperatures recorded in four metropolitan centres were: Kolkata: max 29 (-3 ) d c/ min 26 ( n ) d c

New Delhi: max 35 (-1 ) d c/ min 25 (-3 ) d c

Chennai: max 37 (1 ) d c/ min 28 (1 ) d c

Mumbai: max 31 (1 ) d c/ min 27 (2 ) d c.

The well marked low pressure area over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts now lies as a low pressure area over Jharkhand and neighbourhood.

Associated cyclonic circulation extends up to mid tropospheric levels. The trough at sea level passes through Pilani, Gwalior, Satna, Ambikapur, centre of low pressure area and thence southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal.

The off-shore trough at sea level from Maharashtra coast to Karnataka coast persists. The cyclonic circulation over west Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood persists and now extends up to 1.5 kms a.s.l.

The western disturbance as an upper air system over Jammu and Kashmir and neighbourhood has moved away northeastwards.

A fresh western disturbance as an system lies over north Pakistan and neighbourhood.

The above system is likely to move eastnortheastwards.

In the regions where the southwest monsoon is yet to set in, day temperatures were below normal in some parts of west Rajasthan.

Total rainfall during the past 24 hours at 184 available stations in plains, out of 291 stations, is 152 cms. Normal for the above 184 stations is 169 cms.

The southwest monsoon has been vigorous in Orissa and Jharkhand and active in Haryana, east Rajasthan and Chattisgarh. It has been subdued in Saurashtra, Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka.

Realised rainfall and chief amounts in cms during past 24 hours at East: Most places in Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand and a few places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar. Sambalpur 15.5, Ranchi 10.3, Jharsuguda 9.5, Hazaribnagh 7.9, Sundergarh 7.1, Jamshedpur 6.1, Bankura 3.2, Cherrapunji 2.9, Phulbani 2.5, Krishnagar, Ulubneria, Kolkata 2.3 each, Gaya, Cuttack 1.7 each, Daltonganj 1.5, Bhagalpur 1.4, Bhubaneshwar, Sabour 1.3 each, Agartala 1.1, Gangtok, Diamond Harbour 1.0 each, Shillong, Cooch Behar 0.6 each and Imphal 0.1.

North: Most places in Haryana; many places in west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan; a few places in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Jammu and Kashmir and west Rajasthan. Sawai Madhopur 4.8, Bhiwani 4.7, Karnal 4.5, Nazibabad 4.2, Kota 4.0, Varanasi city 2.9, Aligarh 2.6, Bhundi 2.2, Ghazipur, New Delhi (SFD) 2.0 each, Shimla 1.7, Agra 1.6, Quazigund 1.1, Manali 1.0, Ludhiana 0.7, Bikaner 0.6, Dehra Dun 0.2, Allahabad, Patiala Srinagar 0.1 each.
