North: many places: west Uttar Pradesh+, Haryana+, Punjab+, Himachal Pradesh+, Jammu and Kashmir+, a few places: east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakahand, east Rajasthan, isolated places: west Rajasthan.

Central: many places: Madhya Pradesh (north Madhya Pradesh+), Chattisgarh (north Chattisgarh+), a few places; Vidarbha.

Peninsula: many places: Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, a few places: south Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, south interior Karnataka, isolated places:

Gujarat state, north Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka.

Islands: many places: Andaman and Nicobar, a few places: Lakshadweep.

Temperature recorded in four metropolitan centres were:

Kolkat: max 29 (-3) dc/ min 27 (+1) dc

New Delhi: max 29 (-7) dc/ min 26 (-2) dc

Chennai: max 35 (-1) dc/ min 27 (nil)

Mumbai: max 31 (+1) dc/ min 27 (+2) dc

Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over north Bay of Bengal off west Bengal-West central Bangaladesh coasts, a low pressure area has formed over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of west Bengal and Bangaladesh.

Associated cyclonic circulation extends up to mid tropospheric levels. The trough at sea level passes through Anupgarh, Pilani, Mainpuri, Gaya, Asansol, centre of the low pressure area and thence southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal.

The off-shore trough at sea level from Maharashtra coast to Karnataka coast persists.

The cyclonic circulation extending upto 2.1 kms a.s.l. over east Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood now lies over west Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood. The western disturbance as an upper air system over Jammu and Kashmir and neighbourhood persists. The cyclonic circulation extending upto 2.1 kms a.s.l. over Punjab and neighbourhood persists, The above two systems are likely to move eastnortheastwards.

In the regions where the southwest Monsoon is yet to set in, the day temperatures ere appreciably below normal in some parts of west Rajasthan.

Total India: Total rainfall during the past 24 hours at 181 available stations in the plains, out of 291 stations, is 114 cms. Normal for the above 181 stations is 173 cms.

The southwest Monsoon has been active in Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa and east Madhya Pradesh. It has been subdued in Gujarat state, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and north interior Karnataka.
