Beijing, March 27: China on Thursday congratulated new Pakistan Premier Yousuf Raza Gillani, saying it would continue to work with its “good neighbour” to further promote bilateral relations.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has sent a congratulatory message to PPP leader Gillani, a loyalist of slain former Premier Benazir Bhutto, who was sworn in as Pakistan’s 25h Prime Minister on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang told reporters in Beijing.

“We express our warm congratulations to him (Gillani).

Pakistan and China have a close and good neighbourly cooperation. We would like to continue to work with our good neighbour and good friend to further promote out bilateral relations,” he said.

China considers Pakistan its “all weather” ally.
