New Delhi, July 19: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is hosting a dinner on Sunday ahead of the trust vote amid declaration by Congress that there will be ‘surprises’ in its favour from all parties, excluding the Left.

Congress leaders appeared much relieved on Saturday amid claims that the government has comfortable majority and would receive support from ‘unexpected quarters’.

"We expect support from unexpected quarters from outside our traditional support base. We have built a cushion of surprises. There will be support from all parties excluding the Left," AICC general secretary and Minister of State in PMO Prithviraj Chavan said.

The National Conference and constituents of the UPA and its supporting parties like Samajwadi Party as also CLP leaders, PCC chiefs, AICC office-bearers are among the 500-odd guest list for the dinner.

Members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have also been invited.

Chavan's statement which spoke of surprises meant or implied that some members of the BJP, BJD, Shiv Sena and Akali Dal could also support the Government in the trust vote.

Meanwhile, party sources expressed confidence that MPs from Manipur and Nagaland could also vote for the Government in the trust vote.

Party leaders have been maintaining that they have a minimum support of 280-plus MPs.

CHINESE MONKEY LOOKS SUCCEEDING IN MANIPULATING LAWMAKERS TO KILL THE DEAL - ON ORDERS FROM ...... by DESH PREMI on 20 Jul 2008

The deal is doomed and so is the government," Karat said at a press conference in New Delhi on Sunday. LOOK HOW SUCCESSFUL IS THIS CHINESE MONKEY IN KILLING THE DEAL WITH HELP FROM SO CALLED NATIONALISTS INCLUDING ADVANI, CHANDRA BABU NAIDU ETC. EVEN ADVANI IS UNABLE TO UNDERSTAND CHINESE POLITICS???? OR HIS EGO DOES NOT ALLOW HIM TO THINK BEYOND HIS PERSONAL GAINS????

MUSLIMS ARE INDIRECTLY SUPPORTING BJP?? GOOD?? NOW WHAT CONGRESS CAN SAY ABOUT ITS LOVE ???... by DESH PREMI on 20 Jul 2008

..FOR MUSLIMS AND CONVERTING HINDUS TO STAY IN POWER??? CONGRESS IS SO MUCH AFRAID OF HINDUS THAT A RAPIST, SIKH CRIMINAL IS PROVIDED Z PLUS SECURITY BY CHIEF MINISTER BHUPINDER SINGH HOODA IN HARYANA, TO CONVERT HINDUS TO A NEW RELIGION FOUNDED BY A MUSLIM IN SIRSA. HOODA KNOWS THAT THIS FAKE JAT GODMAN ALLEGDLY HAD VERY CLOSE RELATIONS WITH KILLED SIKH TERRORISTS. BUT CONGRESS CAN HELP ANYONE WHO CAN CONVERT HINDUS???.

WHY MUSLIMS ARE AGAINST THE DEAL AND CONGRESS WHEN CONGRESS HAS ALWAYS PROMOTED CONVERSION OF HINDUS.

Support for Nuke Deal by K.K.Ammannaya on 20 Jul 2008

I wish the nucleur deal gets overwhelming support in Parliament as the same is vital for India's energy security.Other countries are jealous of India for getting the deal.As a matter of fact China is lobbying hard to get the deal cancelled.China is working through left parties to make India denounce the deal on its own.Karats, and others are obliged to china for getting money therefrom.I am surprised at the advani camp joining hands with left to topple the government headed by a first rate economist Dr.Manamohan Singh.Dr.Singh has no axe to grind in any matter. He is honest and integrity is his strongest trait.Even Bal Takarey has hailed nucleur deal.He would have openly supported the deal but for advani camp. The government must get support from all unexpected quarters to ensure that the deal is alive and not denounced. All MPs regardless of party whip must support the deal.Even if avanis karats, mayas topple the government UPA can make this an election issue .

World trade by AKhan on 20 Jul 2008

The world trade talks in Doha are mostly for the western rich countries to control the developing world and especially India and China. India MUST be totally determined to becoming a superpower and aspire to the same standrad of living for every Indian as enjoyed for decades by Americans and Britons.

Support and Deal by Why Support on 20 Jul 2008

Those who want to stay in "germs" and would never like to see India growing in pace with other nations will always say no to deal while those who are willing to learn , know what is in nation's interest and know its importance will definitely say "yes" . Instead of coming under pressure of communal forces/Terror/Uneducated opt in for literacy- learn .. learn ... , unite for national interest which in turn is in interest of each and every individual . Power , development and Education is what this country needs in every small town , villages , states which will help us together to combat this "terror attempt" which these forces are planning to do now on this country for their own interest thus making the country more vulnerable to terror and spoil communal harmony and development plan which people of India have been waiting for decades.

N deal and unexpected Support by anil bharali on 20 Jul 2008

Congress will be destined to accept a unexpected loss in political future.Emergence of third front is a big threat to congress.May have to face a histrical floor crossing even during trust vote.Everybody knows US blessing is with PM MMS. Indian democracy is much stronger and healthier than Us democracy.US srategists are much concern on india as democratic nation as obstuction to American interest. They want to see Hyde ACt in action as early as possible.

UPA win by Musafir on 20 Jul 2008

If UPA wins it will be good for the country. The left politicians for a change will shut their traps and old man Advani can wait for his turn to become PM.

Lose the battle, win the war? by Prasad on 20 Jul 2008

Cognitive Dissonance! I do not like the nuke deal, but I like the PM, Dr. MMS. I don't like the nuke deal, but I dislike the communists even more. Here is my prognosis: UPA will lose the confidence vote, but win the Lok Sabha elections that follow based on a sympathy wave similar to what happened to the BJP in Karnataka.

Nuke Deal by K.K.Ammannaya on 20 Jul 2008

The nucleur deal is a vital requirement for India today.Even French ambassador has expressed surprise at the BJP and some others opposing the deal that too at a time when China and Pakistan are lobbying with western countries against the deal being offered to India. The left has got huge amounts of money from China for opposing the deal .It is really surprising that BJP which claims to have national interest uppermost in its mind is also joining hands with left in opposing the deal .The posterity will never forgive these elements for coming in the way of India's energy security.

The govt will survive because of the nuclear deal by Anand Babu on 20 Jul 2008

The govt will survive because many want the deal to go through. But it is a shameful thing, for that we have to get the support of the murderers and thieves. This is democracy of the worst kind aided by Quattarochi and Daawoods. Rather the govt could have resigned and and let the new govt pursue the deal. What can one expect from pirated Gandhis and Imposter congress?? Wish BJP come to power in the next election.

We’ll get support from 'unexpected quarters' by Indian on 20 Jul 2008

hahaha. This is called CONG(I)play. This issue must be investigated.CONG(I) sell our democracy. Now it is in the hands of businessmen.Hay voters, think about it.Why CONG(I) doing this?Is it for "aam aadmi", definetly no.You can see that all businessmen involved in this. Why?Why cong(I) is not worried about our fundamental issues like drinking water, agriculture, health system.Because the benifit is very less from that. They are cheating our country. This deal is not at all national issue.Real national issue is clean water, health system and agriculture. For them, they are importing every thing from and thru ITALY, on Govt.cost.hay voters, we should show them in next election.Indian media, must be bring the real fundamental issues of India to public. Majority of Indian voters against the deal.Only the mp's, they are supporting only for money.25 crore? It is a large amount of money. They should give that to farmers.

We will get support: Congress by Dave Makkar on 20 Jul 2008

The writing is on the wall Congrress govt will fall there are 247 MP for, 278 MP against with 17 MP for sale. With purchase the no. are 264 which is still 8 short of the Magic no. 272.Indians must demand equality if a rouge country of over 5 million Israel run by quasi criminals and religious fanatics has not signed any Agreement, why a secular Democratic country of more than 1.1 billion India representing major world religions should sign any restriction or policing by “Nuclear Proliferators" especially America who is run by a rouge country Israel. There is no reason for India to beg for anything or to compromise their stand of last over 30 years of not to sign any Agreement which can make it inferior to others. Congress Government is a disgrace to its own Leaders Indra Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Narsimah Rao

Indo US Nuc Agreement by Brig (R) GB Reddi on 20 Jul 2008

In continuation. On foreign policy autonomy, we have to strike strategic balance between Russia-China-US-Iran-Muslim world as a Swing Civilization. By aligning with erstwhile power blocs - a cold war hangover - we will only be working against our interests pl.Next, India's middle class has forged an enduring Social Security Strategic Partnership with US. Let there be no doubts. The NRI clout is growing only. It is the main trigger inducing the rapid development in all metros, particularly in housing sector, which today provides a vast array of employment opportunities for the survival of BPL families. Do we want to stall it?Why are we so defensive as a nation? Hyde Act is a domestic legislation, which is impinging on the President of USA. If the US fails to honour the terms of agreement, we can exercise our own options.Next, what we need urgently is uranium fuel even to run the current reactors at full capacity. So also, fuel for another 24 reactors in pipeline by 2018.

Indo Nuclear Agreement by Brig (R) GB Reddi on 20 Jul 2008

None of the comments clarify what does "Energy Security beyond AD 2030" imply. People like Shekar Gupta must highlight the real issues. The current generating capacity is 141 GWe. For a population of 1.85 billion by AD 2050 and per capita consumption from the current 675 KWh to 1500 KWh, India needs over 1000 GWe energy. BY AD 2030, it will be over 400 GWe. Which energy mix - thermal, hydel, nuclear and renewable - gives us the best option. The more we want to remain exclusive and delay getting into the nuclear club, the more we deny to ourselves development.People should also realise that India has an agreement with the US for establishing the State of Art Technology clean Coal fired power generation unit. Ironical, India has an agreement on the COAL unit with USA, but wants to deny an agreement on the NUCLEAR power issue. On the Strategic front, majority are talking without knowing harsh realities. The agreement provides facility to carry out TESTS for both India and US.

Trust Vote on 22nd July by Krishan K Arora on 20 Jul 2008

Mayawati's dream of becoming the possible PM has come to be blessing in disguise for the UPA Govt's coming in the comfort zone. First the BJP, Shivsena, JD(U) besides their other allies will never be able to digest the news of Mayawati becoming the PM. That is the precise reason of their not so keen with the voting against the UPA Govt. Mark my words Mayawati's candidacy for the possible PMship has completely doomed the chances of defeating the trust vote.

Indian Muslims and their Loyalty by Jim on 20 Jul 2008

I am n Indian, settled in the USA for 30 years. Like most of the rest of the world, I was against the USA invasion of Iraq, and I am definitely against the policies of the current US president. But if all carry over this feeling to the rest of our dealings with the USA, they should get out of this country, and also should stop all business with the USA. The truth is that we all enjoy the good things from the USA, including our booming IT business with the USA.The core agenda of CPM is opposition of capitalism. The only reason that I can think of the opposition of Indian Muslims to the USA is that their allegiance may not be with India, but with the rest of the Muslim world, who has blanket hatred towards the USA. Just as leaders of CPM enjoy everything that capitalistic countries can offer (even the son of the general secretary of Kerala CPM is a student in a major US university!!), Indian Muslims enjoy the benefits from the USA. I think Indian Muslims should declare allegiance!!

What are you talking????? Or what are you trying to say????? From your statement (or non-sense)) I would concur that you have NEVER even seen USA in the MAP. Be clear and concise; do not beat the bush!!! Not president BUSH, but FYI, this is a bush in a proverb...YOU MAY NOT KNOW WHAT A PROVERB IS.....

SEE WHAT Shahid Siddiqui KNOWS ABOUT THE DEAL???? STUPID LAWMAKERS LIKE HIM ARE RULING INDIANS???? by DESH PREMI on 19 Jul 2008

"Indian Muslims are against George W Bush or any deal with America. I don't understand much of the deal and won't vote on it. According to a survey, Indian Muslims would vote on inflation just like any other issue." THESE ARE THE COMMENTS FROM ONE OF THE LAWMAKERS WHO R RULING INDIA??

Trust Vote by Krishan K Arora on 19 Jul 2008

The UPA Govt seems to be quite principled but the Left, BSP, BJP, TDP, etc do not look like they have any principles. The people are watching the whole tamasha of smaller parties and in the next polls, they will give the Congress a simple majority to bring all around growth in our motherland.

Re: Trust vote by PZipk on 20 Jul 2008

Nonsense. Congress has principles? The only principles they know is how to stay in power at any cost.
