New Delhi, September 4: Tata Motors Ltd will do everything it can to roll out its super-cheap Nano car as close to the planned October launch as possible after having to stop work at its West Bengal factory, Chairman Ratan Tata said on Thursday.

"We obviously want to launch as we had planned. And we'll do everything possible to come as close to the planned launch as we possibly can," Tata said at an industry conference.

A dispute over land given to the firm in Singur forced Tata Motors, India's top vehicle maker, to suspend work late on Tuesday at the plant where it planned to build the Nano, billed as the world's cheapest car.

Nano of Tatas as above... by M Krishnamachary on 05 Sep 2008

It is not the Nano is the target. Mamataji and her supporters in front ranks and flanks are aiming to dislodge the communist government in West Bengal. Singur is only an alibi. Formerly Nandigram. It is pertinent to discuss only this Buddhadev Government and its achievement for the last 30 years or more of communist power in West Bengal. Like China they will change color to semi-capitalist ways. Communists aim to continue in power and strangle the freedoms we Indians have achieved by winning freedom from the British. The communists bring this alien ism of Russia and China for continuing imperial style of stamping down human freedoms whiich obtain in democracies. Let evey one help Mamataji in her relentless struggle against authoritative communist rule in West Bengal.
