Chandigarh, January 12 The former students of the Department of Mass Communication, Panjab University, walked down memory lane during the second Annual Alumni Meet organised at the department today. Four promiment alumni —V P Prabhakar, Vijay Sehgal, Sanjeev Tiwari and Kanwar Sandhu — were honoured by the department on the occasion.

Welcoming the guests, dean for university instruction Prof S K Kulkarni said, “The department has produced many journalists of repute over the years and has now established itself as a leading department in the country. The success of the department is not only due to its dedicated faculty but also because of the quality of students who take admission here and carry forward the department’s legacy in newsrooms.”

The students presented a cultural programme and a skit. The skit called Chholay, a spoof on the movie Sholay, was well received by the audience.

Excellent performances by the students prompted the Vice-Chancellor Prof R C Sobti to get on to the stage and dance with other guests.
