Kolkata, February 18 The Rane Group, which will set up a vendor park next to the Tata’s small car factory in Singur in the next six months, on Monday said the state government should urgently look into widening the highway near the car factory site.

The group, which has Tata Motors as its biggest client, is one of the investors in the vendor park. “It would be better if the highway is widened so that the movement of goods vehicles around the project site can be accommodated. Auto parts have to be brought here in bulk, as Nano is going to roll out this year,” said L Ganesh, the chairman, Rane Group.

The Chennai-based group will supply parts like rack and pinion steerings, lower control arms, steering columns and seat belts that will be fitted into the Rs 1 lakh-Nano car. The company will invest Rs Rs 20 crore in a phased manner to set up its unit, which will be spread over five acres of land.

It will cater to the projected volume of 350,000 cars per annum that Tata Motors plans to roll out from Singur, and the company expects a revenue of Rs 75 crore from sales from its Singur oprations, at full volume.
