A 35-Year-old homemaker was found murdered at her house in Khardah’s Milangarh area in North 24 Parganas on Sunday. Dola Ghosh was found lying in a pool of blood in her room with her throat been slit by a sharp object.

The crime was detected early when her 12-year-old daughter Tina woke up. Police suspect that Dola’s 18-year-old stepson Sovan Ghosh had murdered her. According to police, after her second husband Shankar Ghosh’s death, Dola used to run the family by renting out four rooms of her house.

“The needle of suspicion is pointed towards Sovan, who is missing since Saturday. He and his stepmother used to quarrel over family issues. Sovan had earlier lost some money playing online lottery games and was currently trying to get a job,” said a police officer. Sovan also suspected that Dola had illicit relations with several persons.

“Both Dola and Tina were sleeping in the same room and Tina should have at least heard some noises when the murder occurred,” said a police officer.

“We are interrogating several persons of the family,” said a senior district police officer.
