Port-of-Spain, April 7: West Indies defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets on the fourth day of the second cricket test on Sunday and squared the two-test series 1-1.

West Indies, set 253 to win, reached the target just over an hour after tea thanks to 102 by Ramnaresh Sarwan - his 10th test century - and 86 not out by Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

Together, they shared 157 for the fourth wicket.

West Indies scored 294 and 254 for four, and Sri Lanka 278 and 268 at Queen's Park Oval.

Sri Lanka won the first test by 121 runs in Guyana for its first victory in the Caribbean, but couldn't pull off a maiden series victory in the region.

The teams play a three-match one-day international series starting on Thursday at Port-of-Spain.
