Ludhiana, January 20 With main accused in the Shingaar Cinema blast case, Gurpreet Singh, been sent to judicial custody on January 18, the Ludhiana police say that the investigations in the blast and the RDX haul case are complete. SSP R K Jaiswal said, “We are just tying up some loose ends of the case and will submit a chargesheet in court very soon.”

However, the investigation leaves many important questions unanswered.Who financed the RDX which was given to Gurpreet by a Bikaner-based smuggler or on whose behest Ali Mohammad alias Ali handed over 20-kg RDX to Gurpreet? Though the police have been successful in cracking the case yet the masterminds behind the blast which left six dead and 37 injured are far from near. Moreover, another accused Harminder Singh is still absconding.

SSP Jaiswal said, “As far as the RDX trail is concerned, there is a dead end. The person at whose behest Ali Mohammad handed over the RDX to Gurpreet lives in Pakistan. Now, reaching out to this man in Pakistan is not very easy.” The police during its interrogation of Gurpreet Singh has been able to get hold of a US phone number. A senior police official on the condition of anonymity said, “We have tried to trace the the number but all in vain. One thing we are certain about is that there is someone who is funded the entire operation from US and it was planned and carried out by Gurpreet and his men.”
