Anita Pawar, who works as a labourer, was alone at her house in the village yesterday when the accused, identified as Dadarao Hare (35), tried to force himself on her, they said.
In a bid to save herself from the attacker, Anita severed Hare's tongue with her teeth, police said.
The accused has been booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) among other charges.
Police said Hare has been admitted in a local hospital and is recuperating.
