Mumbai, February 21 A woman commuter died and other was severely injured after a fast local knocked them down while they were crossing the tracks at Mahalaxmi station on Wednesday.

Shivanki Narendra Bahadur Singh (25), the victim, was the daughter of a Delhi-based senior Income Tax official. She was crossing the tracks around 10 pm with her friend Bhavna Kandilal (25) at Mahalaxmi station when the incident occurred.

“A fast Churchgate-bound local knocked down both the girls while they were crossing the tracks at Mahalaxmi,” said Police Inspector Shivaji Shinde of Mumbai Central Government Railway Police.
