Mumbai, April 12 The Mumbai Police detained a woman at the city’s domestic airport today for allegedly trying to carry a firearm on a flight to Kerala.

Saji George was detained before boarding the flight after a country-made revolver and some live rounds were found in her baggage during scanning at the X-ray machine at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, said Deputy Commissioner of Police R N Tadvi, Zone 8.

According to the police, Saji George owned up to have carried the weapon in her baggage and claimed that it belongs to her brother. The police are yet to confirm if it’s a licenced revolver.

“We are waiting for him (her brother) to come and will decide upon the further course of action based on the documents the brother produces,” said Tadvi.
