Khanna, January 24 A 37-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances during her treatment near Jargarri village under Payal police station here on Wednesday.

Paramjit Kaur, a resident of Rohno Khurd village, was reportedly being treated for an abortion by Sandeep Kaur, a resident of Rohno Kalan village. Sandeep runs a clinic at Jargarri village. It was alleged that she is not authorised to run a clinic.

The police have not taken any action as both the parties have reached a compromise. However, Sandeep denied that the victim was baing treated for an abortion.

Sources told the Newsline that Paramjit was taken to Sandeep’s clinic to carry out abortion. After the treatment, her condition deteriorated and she died on her way to a hospital at Bija. Paramjit is survived by her husband, two sons and three daughters.

Sandeep told the Newsline, “I have done a course in nursing from a college at Sohana. I am competent to run a clinic and do the delivery cases. Paramjit Kaur was suffering from excessive bleeding and I gave her some injections. She felt better as her bleeding stopped. But on Wednesday morning, her condition deteriorated.”

She added, “She was taken to Kular Hospital in Bija where she was declared brought dead.” Sandeep further said that she gave required treatment to Paramjit.

Payal SHO Anil Kohli said, “As the victim’s family does not want to lodge a complaint, so next course of action has not been taken.” The family members of Paramjit could not be contacted despite repeated attempts. Payal Primary Health Centre Senior Medical Officer Dr S K Walia said, “I have sent a team of officials to record the statement of Sandeep and the victim’s family. I can give more details of incident only tomorrow.”
