New Delhi, January 17 A 38-year-old woman has alleged that a Delhi Police constable and three of his family members beat her up at her house. According to police officers, the woman, Saroj Tiwari is at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital with a fractured arm and 28 stitches.

The police have arrested family members of the accused, constable Naresh Kumar. According to the victim's husband, D K Tiwari, the incident took place when his wife was alone at their Nangloi residence in Outer Delhi on January 14 at about 6.30 pm.

“I was in office and my 15-year-old son was playing in the park. My wife had an argument with one of my neighbours over an issue. The neighbour complained to her husband, constable Kumar,” Tiwari said. He said Kumar, along with his wife, brother and brother's wife then beat Saroj with a rod. Saroj had to be rushed to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, where her condition is still critical, officers said. Officers added that the woman has also received head injuries.

Kumar is posted in Tihar Jail and in his statement he said he was not present when the fight took place, police said.

Meanwhile, police officers have given a different story. They said Saroj was not alone at home at the time of the incident. A senior police officer said, “A fight took place between members of the two families. Four members from constable Kumar's family fought with three members of Tiwari's family, in which the Saroj received injuries.”

Police officers said the constable's family members also received injuries. A case has been registered against constable Kumar and his family and Tiwari and his family.
