Kolkata, June 26 Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personal, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, E M Sudarsana Natchiappan said on Thursday that the Women’s Reservation Bill would be tabled in the monsoon session of Parliament.

At the end of his two-day visit to the state, he told the media that a12-member team met Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Wednesday to discuss the issue.

“The CM urged us to place the Bill before the parliament in the next session.”

Expressing concern on the delay in tabling the 108th Amendment Bill, also known as the Women’s Reservation Bill, Natchiappan said several unresolved issues were linked with the proposed legislation.

“The Samajwadi Party, JD-U, RJD and PMK are demanding sub-quotas for minorities and backward communities. This issue is being discussed at various levels. We hope to arrive at a consensus soon,” he added.
