Kapurthala March 10 “Work pressure” led Kapurthala Punsup District Manager Amarjit Singh Saini to suicide. He hanged himself from a fan in his rented accommodation in Prem Nagar and left a suicide note, addressed to his wife, in which he has sought an apology from her. He has asked his wife to take care of their two children. He said in the note that he was taking this step owing to work pressure, and advised his wife not to let their son work in Punsup.

The deceased, who was in his early 50s, was living here alone, while his family was living in Mohali.

Police sources said today morning when his driver went to pick him up, no one answered the door. The driver informed his colleagues and the police were called. When they broke open the door, Amarjit was found hanging from a fan. SSP Rakesh Agarwal said that a case under Section 174 of the CrPC has been registered and further investigation was on.
