With the number of overseas players in the squad permitted to be 10 in the forthcoming IPL season, these three up and coming overseas players were bought by the two IPL franchises during the one month-long trading window that closed on Thursday, a media release said on Friday.

During this period a total of seven players were traded, the star acquisition being Zaheer Khan (of the Bangalore Royal Challengers) being swapped with Robin Uthappa (of the Mumbai Indians), who is also the captain of the Karnataka Ranji Trophy squad.

Both will now turn out for their respective home cities. The other trades included left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra of the Mumbai Indians, for left-handed batsman Shikhar Dhawan of the Delhi Daredevils, the release said.

In addition to the trades, four temporary replacements from the inaugural season were re-signed by their respective franchises.

In a three-way trade, Jaydev Shah of the Rajasthan Royals - captain of the Saurashtra Ranji squad that made it to the semi finals and son of former Cricket Board Secretary Niranjan Shah - will move to the Mumbai Indians.

Batsman Gaurav Dhiman of the Mumbai Indians will turn out for the Bangalore Royal Challengers and lanky Rajasthan Ranji Trophy team pacer Pankaj Singh, of the Rajasthan Royals, will don the colours of the Bangalore Royal Challengers in the coming IPL season.

MacDonald featured in Australia's consolation Test win at Sydney at the start of this month, whilst Warner made a sensational Twenty20 International debut against South Africa at Melbourne this weekend.

The 22-year old, who is yet to make his first class debut, smashed 89 off 43 balls with six sixes and seven fours. He later made his ODI debut too against the same opponents.

Commenting on his upcoming debut for the Delhi Daredevils Warner said, "I am thrilled to be joining the Delhi Daredevils, and I can't wait to play in the IPL. My international debut has given me a taste of what it is like to score runs in front of a big crowd, and I am looking forward to more of the same in India".

"Playing alongside top players from all over the world like Virender Sehwag, Glen McGrath and Daniel Vettori is going to be an amazing experience," he added.

In all, 82 enquiries were made for 54 players, with 36 of these coming in for the Indian players and 18 for the overseas cricketers who were part of the highly successful inaugural season.

Totally, 17 players were subject to enquiries from more than one franchisee before the seven players were traded, the release said.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders have signed two of their replacement players from 2008 onto longer term contracts. The players are Sri Lanka's new spin sensation Ajantha Mendis and seasoned Australian batsman Brad Hodge.
